Summer Adventure: Day 26

by Doug Darfus

This week we have been talking about different cultures. How do we enter a new culture? How do we not make assumptions about what we experience or see? What are our feelings, cultural reactions, and personal reactions when we are in a new situation? How do we steer ourselves to the green in the photo below?

One thing has been made perfectly clear during these four weeks: Being a missionary is very hard work and we will experience a lot of yay and a lot of yuck. There is no program of steps to follow to keep us from the yuck. This has led me (and I imagine many before me) to question, “Why would I put myself and my family through all these emotions and situations?” It’s a valid and difficult question… but there is an answer… To bring the Gospel of Jesus to those who are lost.
