Summer Adventure - Day 12

by Becky Darfus

“For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.” (Romans 12:4-5)

This morning I stumbled out of bed, (in my typical foggy-headed-yet-to-drink-my-coffee state), unaware of what had taken place during the night. Apparently as I was sleeping like a baby at 1:30 a.m., Elijah was complaining to Doug that his throat really hurt. Yesterday two of the little MK (Missionary Kids) in our group had been diagnosed with strep throat. Anyone who knows Elijah knows he loves visiting with and entertaining little kids. So instead of training this morning, Elijah and I visited the local Urgent Care to find out (no surprise here) he had strep. He spent the rest of the day in his room other than to take a walk outside and a trip to Arby’s for dinner. We are living in community with 38 adults and 34 kids, so we are hoping Elijah didn’t share his germs with anyone else and the sickness stops with him. Unfortunately, this particular strain seems to just pop up without warning so you contaminate people before you realize you are sick.

Doug and Josiah had a usual full day of learning. We were served a most delicious dinner of BBQ ribs, baked beans, green beans, and cake. When we all come home a little heavier than what you remembered us, don’t be surprised!

The pictures below are ones we took Tuesday night while hiking to Palmer Lake Reservoir.
