Spring 2025 Update

There is an old hymn written in 1904 by Cilvilla Martin, “God will take care of you.” Over the past five years living in Arizona, this song has become one of my favorites.

Although the English used is rather old, its meaning still holds true. A truth we find ourselves reminded of frequently. The recent March elementary weekend camp is one example. The weather forecast in Prescott was calling for snow and chilly temperatures for the drive to camp Friday night.

While driving in the Phoenix area can be scary enough, the thought of traveling with a group of young people in winter weather was terrifying (especially for those of us used to 100+ temperatures!) God is so good and provided both those coming from the south and those traveling a further distance from the northeast, safe travel.

A Bible scavenger hunt. Campers had to find the answer to the clue in the Bible and then take a team photo with the item. (For example, what did Elisha cut? Read 2 Kings 6:6 to find the answer!)

Krista Landaas, our co-worker bringing kids from New Mexico, reached a point in her 6-hour trip where she pondered possibly turning around and heading home due to snowy conditions. The campers assured her it would be okay to continue, with one camper even leading the group in prayer. Isn’t it just like God to use a child to remind us of His faithfulness?

A heavy burden on our family this year is the health of Doug’s dad, Tom. Normally an energetic, hard-working man, he has been plagued with shortness of breath, fatigue, fluid buildup around his lungs, and a lack of appetite. He was recently diagnosed with lymphoma and is scheduled to begin chemotherapy soon.

As we reflect on God’s faithfulness, we are reminded that He is with us in every season—whether it’s the uncertainty of weather on a long drive or the heavy burden of illness. Just as He’s been with us in the past, He will continue to guide and provide in the future.

While the road may seem overwhelming at times, we hold tightly to the promise that God will take care of us. And we are grateful for the many ways you, our faithful supporters, are a big part of this journey, encouraging us with your prayers, love, and generosity.

A highlight of each week is Tuesday afternoon, when we volunteer at a group home in Phoenix. Doug was honored to be asked to take two of the girls to a Daddy/Daughter dance.

We ask you to please keep praying—especially for Tom’s health and for the lives we hope to impact through camps. God will continue to take care of us all, and He is faithful to provide.

Thank you again for your support and being a part of God’s work. We pray His peace, comfort, and provision over each one of you, just as we see Him providing for us every day.

Blessings,

Doug & Becky
