January update from the Darfus Family
Dear friends,
Our warmest greetings from Peoria, Arizona! (Although Saturday when we checked the weather it was warmer at that moment in Columbus then here in Peoria). We are happy to report we have officially moved into our new home and the majority of the boxes have been unpacked. Putting some pictures on the walls and shelves has started to give it a little more “home” feeling.
Thank you for your prayers, thoughts, and support. The perfect timing of God continues to amaze us. When we arrived on January 1st, the truck with all of our belongings had not yet arrived. It was recommended we do some painting before the truck’s arrival, so we purchased paint for the bedrooms. The next day, with the help of volunteers, we gave the bedrooms their first coat and we received word the truck would arrive the following day. Early on the third day, we arose to finish the painting. After finishing the painting and still no sign of the truck, we started a thorough cleaning. That night, we were invited to our field director’s home for dinner. As we finally stopped to shower for dinner, the truck arrived. We had just enough time to check out the truck, get cleaned up, and make it to dinner. The next day, plenty of wonderful people showed up to help us unload. The entire process couldn’t have been more perfectly timed.
Noah, who had driven from Ohio to Arizona with us, flew back to Columbus last Wednesday morning. He returned to Asbury on Sunday to begin his second semester. Elijah and Josiah finished their first week of school in the Peoria Unified School District and overall, it seemed to go pretty well. God heard and answered your prayers about our boys and their new schools. Elijah auditioned and made the select choir and Josiah was placed in gifted classes. These two simple events made the transition a bit easier for them.
Our yard has an abundance of fruit trees which we have thoroughly been enjoying. Oranges, lemons, grapefruits, and tangelo trees are all close to our house. So far, Josiah and I have made orange juice and lemonade together. We thank God for his sweet creations!
Once again, we thank you so much for your love and prayers. We know without you, we wouldn’t be here. Thank you for helping us reach the field. Remember, if there is ever a prayer need you have, please let us know and we will add it to our prayer list.
Blessings!
Becky and Doug
Asking for money is never easy, but we can not do the ministry without it. Asking gives you an opportunity to invest in God's ministry and to help build His kingdom.
