April 2020 Update from the Darfus Family

It seems like every time we open our e-mail, another company is sharing their Covid-19 updated plan of attack. The news is full of dramatic information that can cause panic in the strongest of people. This is serious stuff not to be taken lightly. But we would like to submit an even more serious matter, … how is your relationship with Jesus?

How are you doing? We would honestly like to know. Not just physically, but also mentally and spiritually. We would be lying if we told you that during this uncertain point in our world’s history we were handling it perfectly. We have our days when we think a sneeze is the beginning of a serious illness, when we cry for our boys being away from friends, and we question why God would send us here when we really could use the support of family/friends back home.

So we ask again. How are you doing? We get through our tough times by praying and holding onto the promises of God. We would like to pray for you too. If you would like to send us your prayer requests, we will add you to our list to bring before the Lord.

The following is from a website PrayerCast: https://tinyurl.com/PrayCovid19

We thought it was a good reminder that God is in control.

Stop to remember these Biblical truths about COVID-19:

  1. God reigns OVER it. If the wind and sea obey Him, so does this virus (Matthew 8:27).

  2. He is IN THE MIDST of it. He’s our ever-present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1).

  3. He wants to do something THROUGH it. He has good purposes in ALL things (Romans 8:28).

  4. He can bring eternal hope OUT OF it. Millions are being forced to face their mortality. It is urgent that each and every one of them hears and knows the Hope of the Gospel!

So, let’s lift our eyes from the headlines and fix them on Jesus.

Let's pray – because no quarantine will ever stop its power and reach.

And let’s share the Hope of the Gospel with those around us!

And what about us?

Our plans have also changed.

Proverbs 16:9

The mind of man plans his way, But the Lord directs his steps.

We have had to do a lot of out-of-the-box thinking on how to reach campers when they can’t come to campus and we can’t go to them. Currently, we are reaching out to them using the internet, U.S. mail, and text messaging. We are fairly certain our April camp will be canceled so we are expecting to do virtual outreach like many churches are doing. Although we know not every camper has the ability to attend via online, other American Indian Field missionaries are finding they are reaching more new people using technology than they did with conventional means. It is reassuring to know that God is using this crisis to reach more people with the Gospel. This gives us hope that we may reach a child who has never attended camp before. Please pray that our efforts will glorify Him.

Blessings,

Doug & Becky
